    • Bio

    Dr. Debanga Raj Neog is an assistant professor at the Mehta Family School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from The University of British Columbia Vancouver, Canada, and his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, India. He has over 14 years of experience in leading academic and industrial projects in the areas of computer vision, computer graphics, and machine learning. He has received several awards and recognitions for his work, such as the Young Scientist Award by Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (India), the Mitacs Globalink Research Award - INRIA (Canada and France), and the Four Year Doctoral Fellowship at UBC (Canada). Before joining IIT Guwahati in September 2021, he was a co-founder of Nytilus Inc., a Toronto-based computational imaging startup for industrial applications. He has published his research work in reputed journals such as ACM Transaction on Graphics, Expert Systems with Applications, IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, and IEEE Transactions on Artificial Intelligence. Besides teaching and research, Dr. Neog has a passion for traveling, lends expertise to AI startups as an advisor, and is actively involved in social outreach activities.
